My journey through an MBA course provided me an in-depth perspective on management issues. I hold a master’s degree in business administration (MBA), from the University of Newcastle. I have through other management programmes and responsibilities kept my MBA fresh and of value. I undertook the NHS Executive Clinical Governance Development Programme. I was the Lead Clinician in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, North Tyneside Hospital from 2003 to 2004.

I am an Associate Member of the General Medical Council (GMC) Fitness to Practice Committee and previously acted as Performance Assessor for the GMC.

I was actively involved in the review of Trust-wide Maternity Services and was Chairperson of the intra-partum subgroup. As a member of the Labour Ward Committee, I evaluated current practices and problems. I was the lead clinician in Audit and Chairman of the Directorate of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Audit Committee. I am the Lead Clinician in Gynaecology Risk Management at North Tyneside Hospital, England.

I am a member of Council of the Hospital Consultant and Specialist Association. I have served as a member on the Editorial Boards of scientific journals and currently serve as Associate Editor of Sexual Health Matters and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of the Royal Society of Health.
